Dr. Jeff LaHuis graduated from Michigan State University in 1995 with a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and a B.S. in Animal Science. Since graduation he has practiced medicine around the state. Dr. LaHuis is the current owner of Sault Animal Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie. Before purchasing the clinic, he was employed at a large 9 vet hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. There he honed his skills at surgery and diagnostic ultrasound.
Dr. LaHuis has a special focus on the problems associated with working dogs, from strains and sprains to behavioral problems. He is also trained in both cardiac and abdominal ultrasound techniques. Personally he has trained several dogs through schutzhund, including titling two of his own dogs.
Dr. LaHuis resides in Sault Ste. Marie and shares his home with his sons and multiple animals. They include 3 dogs 7 cats, a bearded dragon and 4 horses! Dr. LaHuis is also a solider in the US Army Reserve Veterinary Corps. Recently, he has returned from a one year tour of duty to the Kuwait theater. There he was in command of a veterinary team responsible for food safety and care of military working dogs.
Dr. LaHuis is also experienced in equine medicine and training, having trained Arabian show horses for 10 years. Currently he is working on AQHA trail challenges and endurance racing.

My Name is Lori I've been with the hospital since April 2005.I started in the kennel and ended in the office manager position. I really enjoy my job and my coworkers they are all loving compassionate people.I have the privilege of working with my daughter Natalie who has been here since 2008.
I'm married and have two grown children two grand daughters Macey and Koraline and a grandson Aiden. I also have a yellow lab magnum a dachshund named sophie a mix breed named honey.
Hi! My name is Debbie. I have been at SAH since August of 2007. I really enjoy my job. The relationships that I have developed with the staff and the clients have been so rewarding. The clients have become part of the Sault Animal Family.I have two grown children. I am pictured with the office Mascot, Bella, who has been here since 2007 also. She is a 7 yo Chihuahua/Pom mix and works very hard sitting next to me. She is very cooperative when called on to be used for demonstrations on medicating client pets. She is very comforting to clients when they need her the most. Bella is my girl and she lives with me. I have 3 other dogs. Lucky is a 14 year old Shih-Tzu. Trixie is a 11 year old Yorkie/Maltese/Poodle mix and Murphy is the baby at 4 years old.He is a Chihuahua/Pom mix. They all love coming to work and hanging out. I also have 2 cats: Gizmo and Lilly. A guinea pig named Bucky and 2 Cockatiels named Charlotte and Chico. What a wonderful household.
My name is Natalie I have been at Sault Animal since 2008.I love working with the animals including my coworkers. My favorite part of the job is the wildlife mainly fawns and owls !

Hi! My name is Cat. I am a tech for large and small animals here at Sault Animal Hospital. I'm an owner of 4 dogs- all rescues, 7 cats, (2 of which are barn cats, and yes, this makes me the crazy cat lady!), 6 chickens, 2 horses and a pony. My hobby is trail riding, with the longest being 18.9 miles.
Working here at SAH allows me to not only help the patient but the pet owner as well, I truly love working with pets and their owners. I have worked here for the past 5 years.

Surgery is my favorite. :) My husband, Brian and I have a baby boy Connor. We also have 2 dogs (Marvin and Eva) a one eyed cat (Peirre) and 2 yellow earred slidders (Spike and Petrie) I can't see myself doing anything else. I love the animals and the medicine ♡
Hey, My name is Nicole. I have been with Sault Animal Hospital since 2013. I started back in the the kennels and got moved to reception last spring. I have learned so much working here. In order to work here I had to promise my mom I wouldn't come home with any new animals since we already have 5 horses,3 dogs and 2 cats.
Hi! I'm Amanda.I started here by volunteering for a few years until I graduated college in 2019 with a per-veterinary degree,After which they couldn't get rid of me and I started working here that spring. I love all the cool things,people and animals we see here at the clinic-it's never a dull day! Currently(!) have no pets of my own,but share joint custody of 2 huskies, Athena and Blue,with my parents and my feline son,Oscar,one of our clinic casts who has adopted me.
